The very conception of Insite is inextricably linked to my journey as a Mexican American designer. My story, and the foundation of my roots, begins at the border—strapped into the backseat of a taxi in Juárez. Though the specifics of the memory are vague, the visceral feeling of my life shifting remains perfectly clear. The journey, unplanned by nature, demanded constant change and adaptability. Relocating between the South and the Northeast, and even changing school districts twice a year, became the norm. Yet, being the new kid offered a unique advantage: the constant opportunity to reinvent myself and an endless stream of new individuals to learn from. I became adept at assimilation, a comfortable chameleon. This ability was nurtured by the openness I found in others—from joining Muslim friends for family dinners to accepting invitations to Sunday church outings. Looking back, it was clear I was internalizing the profound importance of community and culture, and building an insatiable drive to explore them. My path to becoming a designer didn't happen by calculated design, but through the connections I forged in high school. These relationships, and a shared passion for fashion, became the foundation for my creative life. It was through this network that I connected with powerful individuals who took an interest in my story and generously sponsored my college career. The opportunity to live and study in New York City didn't just teach me design; it cemented the core pillars I had been living by all my life, making them a tangible, lived reality. The sheer abundance of diversity in NYC fueled my curiosity, while the sacrifices and generosity of everyone who supported me gave me the time to pause, contemplate, and truly understand my position in the world.

Insite is the direct reflection of that journey—a space born from constant motion and deep connection. It is my creative mirror, built to examine and reflect the realities I have experienced and the world I continue to explore.

The core purpose of Insite is twin-fold: it is a place for personal growth—to evolve as a creative—and an ongoing opportunity to genuinely learn about the world, whether examining the story of a single individual or the complex dynamics of a wider culture. Insite is strategically built upon three distinct pillars: Research, Conceptual Storytelling, and Product Creation. This integrated approach provides a necessary structure—a unified banner—that identifies and validates my diverse work and ideas. While the ultimate goal is clear, the exact look of each project remains fluid, depending entirely on the concept itself. The objective is straightforward: to inform the audience, highlight genuine insights, and invite the consumer to engage with and experience the ideas through words, images, and tangible products.

The  projects you see below are from previous years. Although they don’t completely capture  the ethos of Insite, they served as a fundamental creative exploration.

I look back at them fondly.
